Any pre-existing medical conditions that have not remained stable in the 3 months leading up to the effective date are not covered by travel insurance for students.
For Manulife’s travel insurance for students, a medical condition is considered stable when all the following statements are true:
- No new treatment has been prescribed or recommended, and there have been no change(s) to existing treatment (including a stoppage in treatment).
- There have been no changes in medication and no recommendation to start or starting of a new prescription drug.
- The medical condition has not worsened.
- There have not been any new, more frequent or more severe symptoms.
- There has been no hospitalization nor referral to a specialist.
- There have not been any tests, investigations nor treatments recommended and incomplete.
- There are no outstanding test results.
- There is no planned or pending treatment.
All the above conditions must be met for a medical condition to be considered stable. Please review the conditions above very carefully before you purchase travel insurance for students and leave your home country to study abroad.
